1
והוה באסקות יי ית אליהו בעלעולא לצית שמיא ואזל אליהו ואלישע מן גלגלא:
glgla mn walyshe alyhw wazl shmya ltsyth belewla alyhw yth yy basqwth whwh
When Yahweh was about to take Elijah up by a whirlwind into heaven, Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

ואמר אליהו לאלישע תוב כען הכא ארי יי שלחני עד בית אל ואמר אלישע קים הוא יי וחי נפשך אם אשבקינך ונחתו לבית אל:
al lbyth wnkhthw ashbqynk am npshk wkhy yy hwa qym alyshe wamr al byth ed shlkhny yy ary hka ken thwb lalyshe alyhw wamr
Elijah said to Elisha, “Please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me as far as Bethel.” Elisha said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.

ונפקו תלמידי נבייא די בבית אל לות אלישע ואמרו ליה הידעתא ארי יומא דין יי דבר ית רבונך מעל רישך ואמר אף אנא ידענא שתוקו:
shthwqw ydena ana ap wamr ryshk mel rbwnk yth dbr yy dyn ywma ary hydetha lyh wamrw alyshe lwth al bbyth dy nbyya thlmydy wnpqw
The sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that Yahweh will take away your master from over you today?” He said, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”

ואמר ליה אליהו אלישע תוב כען הכא ארי יי שלחני ליריחו ואמר קים הוא יי וחי נפשך אם אשבקינך ואתו ליריחו:
lyrykhw wathw ashbqynk am npshk wkhy yy hwa qym wamr lyrykhw shlkhny yy ary hka ken thwb alyshe alyhw lyh wamr
Elijah said to him, “Elisha, please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to Jericho.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.

וקריבו תלמידי נבייא די ביריחו לות אלישע ואמרו ליה הידעתא ארי יומא דין יי דבר ית רבונך מנך ואמר אף אנא ידענא שתוקו:
shthwqw ydena ana ap wamr mnk rbwnk yth dbr yy dyn ywma ary hydetha lyh wamrw alyshe lwth byrykhw dy nbyya thlmydy wqrybw
The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that Yahweh will take away your master from over you today?” He answered, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”

ואמר ליה אליהו תוב כען הכא ארי יי שלחני עד ירדנא ואמר קים הוא יי וחי נפשך אם אשבקינך ואזלו תרויהון:
thrwyhwn wazlw ashbqynk am npshk wkhy yy hwa qym wamr yrdna ed shlkhny yy ary hka ken thwb alyhw lyh wamr
Elijah said to him, “Please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to the Jordan.” He said, “As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” Then they both went on.

וחמשין גברא מתלמידי נבייא אזלו וקמו מקביל מרחיק ותרויהון קמו על ירדנא:
yrdna el qmw wthrwyhwn mrkhyq mqbyl wqmw azlw nbyya mthlmydy gbra wkhmshyn
Fifty men of the sons of the prophets went and stood opposite them at a distance; and they both stood by the Jordan.

ונסיב אליהו ית שושיפיה ואחזר ומחא ית מיא ואתפליגו לכא ולכא ועברו תרויהון ביבשתא:
bybshtha thrwyhwn webrw wlka lka wathplygw mya yth wmkha wakhzr shwshypyh yth alyhw wnsyb
Elijah took his mantle, and rolled it up, and struck the waters; and they were divided here and there, so that they both went over on dry ground.

והוה כמעברהון ואליהו אמר לאלישע שאל מה אעביד לך עד דלא אידבר מלותך ואמר אלישע ויהי כען על חד תרין ברוח נבואתך עמי:
emy nbwathk brwkh thryn khd el ken wyhy alyshe wamr mlwthk aydbr dla ed lk aebyd mh shal lalyshe amr walyhw kmebrhwn whwh
When they had gone over, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”

ואמר אקשיתא למשאל אם תחזי יתי דאנא מידבר מלותך יהי לך כן ואם לא לא יהי:
yhy la la wam kn lk yhy mlwthk mydbr dana ythy thkhzy am lmshal aqshytha wamr
He said, “You have asked a hard thing. If you see me when I am taken from you, it will be so for you; but if not, it will not be so.”

והוה עד דאינון אזלין מיזל וממללין והא רתיכין דאשתא וסוסון דאשתא ואפרישו בין תרויהון וסליק אליהו בעלעולא לצית שמיא:
shmya ltsyth belewla alyhw wslyq thrwyhwn byn wapryshw dashtha wswswn dashtha rthykyn wha wmmllyn myzl azlyn daynwn ed whwh
As they continued on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

ואלישע חזי והוא מצוח רבי רבי דטב להון לישראל בצלותיה מרתיכין ופרשין ולא חזהי עוד ואתקיף בלבושיה וסדקינון לתרין סדיקין:
sdyqyn lthryn wsdqynwn blbwshyh wathqyp ewd khzhy wla wprshyn mrthykyn btslwthyh lyshral lhwn dTb rby rby mtswkh whwa khzy walyshe
Elisha saw it, and he cried, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” He saw him no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces.

וארים ית שושיפא דאליהו די נפלת מניה ותב וקם על כיף ירדנא:
yrdna kyp el wqm wthb mnyh nplth dy dalyhw shwshypa yth warym
He also took up Elijah’s mantle that fell from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan.
14
ונסיב ית שושיפא דאליהו דנפלת מניה ומחא ית מיא ואמר קביל בעותי יי אלהיה דאליהו אף הוא ומחא ית מיא ואתפליגו לכא ולכא ועבר אלישע:
alyshe webr wlka lka wathplygw mya yth wmkha hwa ap dalyhw alhyh yy bewthy qbyl wamr mya yth wmkha mnyh dnplth dalyhw shwshypa yth wnsyb
He took Elijah’s mantle that fell from him, and struck the waters, and said, “Where is Yahweh, the God of Elijah?” When he also had struck the waters, they were divided apart, and Elisha went over.

וחזוהי תלמידי נבייא דביריחו מקביל ואמרו נחת רוחיה דאליהו על אלישע ואתו לקדמותיה וסגידו ליה על ארעא:
area el lyh wsgydw lqdmwthyh wathw alyshe el dalyhw rwkhyh nkhth wamrw mqbyl dbyrykhw nbyya thlmydy wkhzwhy
When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho facing him saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

ואמרו ליה הא כען אית עם עבדך חמשין גברין בני חילא ייזלון כען ויבעון ית רבונך דלמא נטליה רוח מן קדם יי ורמהי בחד מן טוריא או בחד מן חיליא ואמר לא תשלחון:
thshlkhwn la wamr khylya mn bkhd aw Twrya mn bkhd wrmhy yy qdm mn rwkh nTlyh dlma rbwnk yth wybewn ken yyzlwn khyla bny gbryn khmshyn ebdk em ayth ken ha lyh wamrw
They said to him, “See now, there are with your servants fifty strong men. Please let them go and seek your master. Perhaps Yahweh’s Spirit has taken him up, and put him on some mountain or into some valley.” He said, “Don’t send them.”

ואתקיפו ביה עד סגיא ואמר שלחו ושלחו חמשין גברא ובעו תלתא יומין ולא אשכחוהי:
ashkkhwhy wla ywmyn thltha wbew gbra khmshyn wshlkhw shlkhw wamr sgya ed byh wathqypw
When they urged him until he was ashamed, he said, “Send them.” Therefore they sent fifty men; and they searched for three days, but didn’t find him.

ותבו לותיה והוא יתיב ביריחו ואמר להון הלא אמרית לכון לא תיזלון:
thyzlwn la lkwn amryth hla lhwn wamr byrykhw ythyb whwa lwthyh wthbw
They came back to him while he stayed at Jericho; and he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t go’?”

ואמרו אנשי קרתא לאלישע הא כען מושב קרתא שפיר כמא דרבוני חזי ומיא בישין וארעא מתכלא:
mthkla warea byshyn wmya khzy drbwny kma shpyr qrtha mwshb ken ha lalyshe qrtha anshy wamrw
The men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold, please, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land is barren.”
20
ואמר איתו לי צלוחיתא חדתא ושוו תמן מלחא ואיתיאו לותיה:
lwthyh waythyaw mlkha thmn wshww khdtha tslwkhytha ly aythw wamr
He said, “Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it.” Then they brought it to him.
21
ונפק למפקנא דמיא ורמא תמן מלחא ואמר כדנן אמר יי אסיתי למיא האלין ולא יהי מתמן עוד מותא ומתכלא:
wmthkla mwtha ewd mthmn yhy wla halyn lmya asythy yy amr kdnn wamr mlkha thmn wrma dmya lmpqna wnpq
He went out to the spring of the waters, and threw salt into it, and said, “Yahweh says, ‘I have healed these waters. There shall not be from there any more death or barren wasteland.’”

ואתסיאו מיא עד יומא הדין כפתגמא דאלישע דמליל:
dmlyl dalyshe kpthgma hdyn ywma ed mya wathsyaw
So the waters were healed to this day, according to Elisha’s word which he spoke.

וסליק מתמן לבית אל והוא סליק באורחא וינקין זעירין נפקו מן קרתא ואתלעבו ביה ואמרו ליה סק קרחא סק קרחא:
qrkha sq qrkha sq lyh wamrw byh wathlebw qrtha mn npqw zeyryn wynqyn bawrkha slyq whwa al lbyth mthmn wslyq
He went up from there to Bethel. As he was going up by the way, some youths came out of the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldy! Go up, you baldy!”

ואתפני לאחורוהי וחזינון ולטינון בשמא דיי ונפקו תרתין דובין מן חורשא ובזעא מנהון ארבעין ותרין ינקין:
ynqyn wthryn arbeyn mnhwn wbzea khwrsha mn dwbyn thrthyn wnpqw dyy bshma wlTynwn wkhzynwn lakhwrwhy wathpny
He looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in Yahweh’s name. Then two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of those youths.
